I graduated from the University of Memphis in 1987. My first job out of college took me to San Francisco, which ultimately led to my career with Papercone. I started working at Papercone in 1991 at our original headquarters in San Francisco. I have been blessed to work with great colleagues and awesome customers over the past thirty one years. I enjoy traveling the country offering solutions, new ideas and product applications that help our customers generate new business. I have been honored to have many of my customers turn out to be good friends. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my two kids and watching them play sports. I also enjoy golfing and snow skiing as my hobbies.
As a kid, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and worked at Papercone for my father on Saturdays and during the summers. It inspired me to take a printing shop class in high school, run my own printing press from the basement of our home, and start a small business. I graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in printing from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY. During my college years, I worked four hours every day at the Boise Cascade Envelope Division in Rochester. After graduation, I worked there full-time for two years before returning to San Francisco to work at the family business, Papercone. In 1978, I was sent to Louisville to start up our new plant and am now the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Papercone Corporation, the largest privately held specialty envelope manufacturer in the U.S. I am the Chairman of the Global Envelope Alliance and an active member of the Chief Executives’ Organization and the Young Presidents’ Organization. I am deeply involved in philanthropic activities, serving on the boards of The Salvation Army, Rochester Institute of Technology, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and Walden School. My wife, Marilyn, and I live in Louisville, Kentucky and have two children and six grandchildren. I travel extensively for business and pleasure and love snow skiing around the world.
I have been around Papercone as long as I can remember. As a 12-year-old I would go to work with my father on the weekends and play Star Wars by jumping stacks of rolls or climbing to the rafters in the warehouse. Eventually they gave me a broom which started my career at Papercone. Once in high school I was promoted to prepress and spent some time in imprint. I attended undergraduate school at the University of Louisville Business school and graduated in 1996 with a Computer Information Systems Degree. During that time, I worked as an intern at Papercone developing warehouse software and filling in as needed. After college I spent 4 years in Colorado working as an IT consultant while meeting my wife. We returned to Papercone in 2001 once we were expecting our first child where I assumed my roll managing all things technical at Papercone. Since then, I have had 3 children and received my MBA from the University of Louisville in 2009. I love spending time with my family, skiing with my father, and playing golf.
I have been with the Papercone family since 1999. My current role as the IT Manager is both rewarding and challenging. I enjoy working with people, helping to resolve their problems, and making their day a little brighter. When I am not at Papercone, I enjoy spending time at the lake with my husband, children, and many wonderful friends.
